During the chaos of severe storms battering the UK, UK Power Networks turned to Clarity for critical support.

As a leading distribution network operator for electricity, their infrastructure faced significant disruptions during storms like David in January 2018 and Arwen in September 2020.

During Storm David, which ravaged the South-East Coast, Clarity sprang into action to secure over 300 last-minute rooms for families left without power across key areas like Bury St Edmunds, Norwich, Ipswich, and Cambridge. Then, when Storm Arwen struck the East of England, leaving numerous properties in darkness, Clarity's task was to find over 150 rooms per night for emergency workers racing to restore power to the affected regions.

The success of these missions was evident in the tangible outcomes achieved:

  • A fleet of 20 standby coaches ensured the safe transportation of families, including their beloved pets.
  • Each night, over 200 beds were secured for emergency engineers over a three-day period, facilitating their critical work.
  • Engineers were mobilised with remarkable efficiency, often with as little as 30 minutes' notice, underscoring Clarity's agility, and responsiveness.

In the face of large-scale power outages, the need for temporary accommodation becomes paramount. Whether it's finding shelter for affected families or facilitating the movement of emergency workers, Clarity's conferencing and groups team excels at sourcing accommodation at a moment's notice, ensuring no one is left stranded in times of crisis.

  • The rehoming of 300+ families
  • A fleet of 20 coaches on standby ready to transport these families, including pets
  • Over 200 beds per night over a 3-day period for emergency engineers
  • The movement of engineers with as little as 30 minutes’ notice.
“All credit goes to our exemplary Emergency Mobilisation Team!”
