Still fresh from his fantastic win at the ITM Achievement Awards, our very own Jake Lawley, Account Manager, has been speaking with ITM about his achievement.

In the interview, the piece shines a spotlight on Jake's dedication and innovative flair in the business travel industry.

Jake is thrilled with his win, describing it as “a career goal” to be nominated for an industry award, and “beyond what I imagined” to actually take one home. He shared that being recognised by colleagues, customers, and industry peers “makes the harder days all worth it.” Jake hopes this achievement inspires younger talent, showing them that “the things that can be achieved with hard work and determination” are within reach.

Jake’s passion for his work is all about delivering the best outcomes for his customers and the business. He’s always pushing to “achieve the best that I am capable of,” by thinking outside the box and coming up with initiatives that really stand out.

As an Account Manager, Jake has led the charge in getting more clients to embrace online booking. By taking the time to understand each customer’s unique needs and commercial models, he’s been able to create solutions that benefit everyone. He pointed out that “analysing each customer’s buying behaviour” helped him identify areas for improvement, leading to smoother and more cost-effective booking processes.

One of Jake’s biggest challenges was encouraging customers to move from offline to online booking tools - a change that wasn’t easy for some long-time users. He tackled this by identifying specific training needs and making the training “relatable to them,” showing them how to book familiar routes. By demonstrating the time and cost savings, Jake helped clients see the real benefits of making the switch.

Looking ahead, Jake’s advice to others in the business travel industry is to “expect setbacks,” but stay focused on your goals. His journey proves that perseverance and a commitment to excellence can make all the difference in this ever-evolving industry.
