Clarity staff got into the fundraising spirit once again for this year’s Macmillan Coffee Morning.

And that was just the latest in a long line of events which have been inspired by Macmillan that have taken place up and down the country.

Charity@Clarity

Clarity raises funds for Macmillan every year via its Charity@Clarity JustGiving page which will help the charity provide services to people living with cancer.

And since fundraising began in 2015, Team Clarity fundraisers have totted up more than £70,000.

It all started with a pancake day, before moving on to Easter fun days, traybake Fridays, sponsored runs, doughnut days and charity football and cricket.

Macmillan’s annual coffee morning has become a regular fixture, while turning up to the office in pyjamas and football kits has boosted the fundraising efforts, as well as ghoulish goings-on at Halloween, doing the 5k a day for 10 days challenge and going sober for October.

Clarity’s intrepid annual Mighty Hikers have raised thousands too, with another £3,659 added to the coffers this year – smashing their £3,000 target.

Clarity CEO, Pat McDonagh, said: “Almost all of our lives have in some shape or form been touched by cancer and we couldn’t be prouder of our support for this wonderful charity.

“Many of our staff and loved ones have benefitted directly from the brilliant work they do and we’re delighted to have raised over sixty six thousand pounds so far. Our staff have taken part in events such as the Mighty Hikes and coffee mornings over the last 12 months and we’re looking forward to continuing our fundraising activity next year too.”

Macmillan's Commitment to Cancer Support

More than 3,000,000 people are living with cancer in the UK right now and someone is diagnosed with cancer, on average, every 90 seconds.

Macmillan exists to improve the lives of everyone living with cancer. We provide information about cancer and treatment, help with how you’re feeling and your daily life, and information and support about money worries and work.

Vital Support

Liam Everett, Macmillan’s Relationship Fundraising Manager – Derbyshire, Greater Manchester & Cheshire, said: “Over the years, through various fundraising events such as our Mighty Hike series and your fantastic Conference, Clarity has played a huge part in helping Macmillan provide the vital support that people living with cancer rely on.

“The £70,245 raised since 2015 could help pay for a Macmillan Nurse for a little over a year, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support.

“Maybe slightly more poignant through the current cost of living crisis, £70,245 could provide 234 people living with cancer a Macmillan grant.

“These can help cover some of the costs cancer brings, for example, travel to and from hospital appointments or allow them to keep the heating on through winter.

“We simply could not do what we do without the support of incredible people like you, thank you!”
