Travelling abroad from the UK
It is your responsibility to check and comply with any testing, vaccination, or quarantine restrictions for your destination. You should check latest government information for your destination. Guidance is provided via: – https://www.gov.uk/travel-abroad and the Covid-19 Travel & Visa Restrictions: Information and Resources sections above offers extra help.
Returning to the UK
From 18th March 2022, all entry restrictions when travelling to the UK were removed.
Any traveller who enters the UK from this date, whether they are vaccinated or not, will no longer need to fill in a passenger locator form or take any COVID-19 tests – before you travel or after you arrive.
Travellers will also no longer need to quarantine when they arrive into the UK.
These rules apply to the whole of the UK.
Further detailed guidance on COVID-19 rules for all devolved nations can be found below:
There are different rules if you have been in a red list country or territory in the 10 days before you arrive in the UK. There are currently no countries or territories on the red list.
Undertaking Covid-19 tests at certain points in time before, during and after your trip may be required for international travel. You need to plan how and when you will take and process your test in order to meet travel requirements and not disrupt your trip.
In some cases, you may need to take a Rapid Antigen or PCR type test to confirm a negative result. Please check the requirements of your trip as these can change.
The Covid-19 negative result status can be produced in different ways. Generally, this is either delivered as a pdf certificate attached to an email or as an update within the test provider app.
Test Providers in the UK
You may need to conduct tests in the UK before you depart for your destination.
Be aware: When deciding on a test for travel, it’s important to check the FCDO advice “Entry requirements” and destination government advice detail. If it stipulates a certain kind of PCR test, (for example, nasal swab,) ensure you are choosing the correct test type.
Also check detail on how test results should be produced. Often results need to be produced in English, Spanish or French.
