Clarity has been handling the University of Derby travel since 2008 having been re-appointed as the preferred TMC provider four times – a testimony to the great work we continue to do for them.
Prior to our appointment, travel management was split between 3 TMC’s who competed for each booking request which created a race to the bottom in pricing terms and the prevalence of ‘hidden’ costs that were not apparent to bookers at the time of booking. This practice meant that what initially looked like the cheapest fares, were in fact not, so bookers ended up paying more.

At Clarity, as a TMC, we encourage online adoption which encourages best buying practice and all but ensures the best prices. Karen Gardiner, the Account Manager appointed to manage the Derby account immediately set about conducting a full audit of the university’s airline and hotel expenditure and working with the University’s procurement team put together a strategy to drive cost reductions.
We work with our clients to create a preferred hotel program, while we also have partners which allow us to offer Academic and Charity airfares reducing average flight ticket prices, and with more flexible conditions – cancellation and amendment fees as well.
